Sakamoto cho, located at the foot of Mt. Hiei, once flourished as the front gate town of Mt. Hiei Yanli Temple and preserved many secluded residences for Yanli Temple monks. The Old Bamboo Grove Garden is one of the neighborhoods, with a Zen inspired garden filled with rivers and waterfalls flowing from nearby streams. Here, you can admire the vegetation and moss laid out using traditional gardening techniques.
